German Telekom has chosen the Accedo Application Sphere to Power the recently launched TV apps on Entertain in Germany. Accedo Application Sphere, Which was acknowledged with an 'Outstanding Technology Innovation' award at the Connected TV Awards earlier this year, provides a powerful, cloud-based, scalable and open application management platform. It provides attractive administrative tools to manage applications for multiple platforms and devices, Accedo says.

"Accedo Application Sphere fulfils the requirements from Tier 1 service providers like German Telekom. The Entertain TV apps are available on the Microsoft Mediaroom platform. The apps offer what launched to consumers at the IFA show in Berlin at the beginning of September.
Separately, and as we reported previously from IBC, two of the world's leading middleware providers have partnered with Accedo to harness Accedo Application Sphere for the pay-TV market. First, NAGRA Accedo and are working together to deliver. An off-the-shelf application store and a set of applications to Pay TV providers The application store is available on OpenTV 5, NAGRA's newest media convergence platform, and powered by the Accedo Application Sphere.
NDS, now part of Cisco, that announced a combined solution with Accedo to enable pay-TV operators to launch their own app store, manage application lifecycle, contextualise content and monetize apps through a connected set-top box. Accedo Application Sphere will be used in combination with NDS 'MediaHighway set-top box software and the NDS Service Delivery Platform.
